In the love stories, love is shown as something big, visible and passionate. This content was present in my whole life, in the commercials, movies and soap operas that I watched.

In my education this love stories where essential, I attended to a catholic school in which sexual topics where not allowed, I am sure that as a replace of a natural need, we get obsessed with the idea of romantic love instead of sex. The idea of being a wife and a mom took part in our games, in our toys, in our songs. Those expectations about true love made me feel that I was passing through a transition to get into adulthood, where all of our games will come true and we will be finally happy and with all the conflicts resolved.  However, this love stories are only probable if the love is impossible. Romantic love, as it was thought to me, do not exist in the routine, in the everyday life, in the long term relationships, the romantic love is only able in the impossibility of lovers to be together. “Blissful love has no history. Only novels of mortal love can exist, I mean the love that is threatened and condemned by life itself. What exalts the Western lyricism, is not the pleasure of the senses, nor the fruitful peace of the lovers. Is the passion of love and passion means suffering” 1

39 Steps is the name of my shortfilm but is also part of an investigation about love and life in relationships, I continue with this investigation that is part of my life. 39 Steps contain drawings, essays, videos, photos and films. This mix real life with my imagination and the way I perceive my surroundings.
